12.30: Arrive Ghimbold Airport, Brasov. Short transfer to the town of Rasnov for lunch and introductions. Walk up to Rasnov Citadel (20 mins) and spend time looking around the fascinating fortress with reconstructed houses. Transfer to the mountain village of Magura and our accommodation for the next 2 nights. Samedru is a newly built chalet with stunning mountain views and high quality accommodation. Welcome drink and introduction to the weeks activities. Supper Hotel: Samedru (or similar) Those joining from other airports may join the group for the evening meal.

After a delicious buffet breakfast we will walk through the village visiting the beautiful Orthodox Monastery. The walk continues following through Pestera, La Table to Prapestile Zarnestiului following quiet lanes and tracks with some panoramic views. We will stop for a picnic lunch along the way. Depending on the time of year there will be an opportunity to see the impressive European Brown Bears either in the wild [from the safety of a hide], or at the bear sanctuary in Zarnesti.

Walk up a fairly steep woodland path for an hour, then a gentle walk through pastures and woodland to Cabana Curmatura which is nestled below the Piatra Craiului mountain range. There we will stop for a simple lunch. Our return walk will bring us down to a stunning gorge where our transport will meet us. Transfer to Biertan with stop for coffee. Hotel: Casa Eva Wagner (or similar)

Undulating walk from Biertan through lush fields and woods to the traditional settlement of Copsa Mare for picnic lunch and then back to Biertan. Visit the stunning fortified church in Biertan before heading to our next stop in the picturesque settlement of Sighisoara. After checking in to our hotel there will be an early evening guided tour of the Citadel before supper in a cellar bar. Hotel: Casa Wagner

45 minute drive to the unspoilt village of Viscri, home to King Charles’ renovated village house. There we will walk through pastures and woodland, passing traditional shepherd compounds to Mesendorf where we will have a delicious lunch cooked from locally sourced ingredients. We return to Viscri for a short visit to the well preserved fortified church which has a fascinating history. 1 hr 30 mins transfer to Sacele. After supper there will be a chance for an evening stroll or time to relax in the spa. Hotel: Q Chalet (or similar)

Morning in spa or a chance to wander in the woods before transferring to the Cuicas mountains. After a 40 minute transfer the final 20 minute section is an off-road track which brings us to the Cabana. There we will have a picnic lunch. In the afternoon we walk through the dramatic rocky landscape to the summit at 2,000m with 360 degree panoramic views. We follow an easier route back to the Cabana where we will have a chance to sample some traditional Romanian food. Hotel: Cuicas Cabana. Simple accommodation in double rooms.

Fairly easy walk from Cabana down through stunning scenery to meet the vehicles. Transfer to the Medieval Saxon Town of Brasov where you will have the rest of the day to explore. Lunch: not included as you will have the plentiful options in the Old Town. Hotel: Albert Hotel (or similar)

Transport will be available after breakfast to transfer to Brasov Ghimbav. Other transport options available with prior arrangment.
