We leave Brasov today to travel North to Crit. On the way we visit the Libearty Bear Sanctuary where orphaned and mistreated Brown Bears, Lynx and Wolves are cared for with a view to re-introduction to the wild. We will then explore the infamous Bran Castle and Cultural museum. Then after a transfer of 1hr 40 minutes we arrive at the traditional village of Crit our base for the next 2 nights. Stay in an authentically restored village house.

Hotel: Critz Cross

After breakfast we have a short transfer to Viscri, a village time forgot. The day will be spent enjoying a tour of the 13th Century White Church a Unesco protected Saxon Fortification, and King Charles’ traditional village house. There will be the option then of a short walk of 5.5km through woodland return down the hillside offering great views of Viscri or enjoy more time to wander around the village and sit in a shady cafe. Optional visit to Rupea Fortress. We return to Crit for our second night’s stay.

Today we will go on a tour of the Citadel finding out about the legends and bloody history. After a lunch of your choosing you will the opportunity to sample the cafe culture and wander round then picturesque streets.

Hotel: Sighișoara Citadel

Today we have a short drive to Bethlen Castle in Cris. This magnificent building dates back to the 15th Century. After this we will visit a home to learn about traditional Transylvanian weaving and embroidery. There will be a chance to try some weaving. Then we visit a small farm in a very rural setting to find out about small scale cheese making and enjoy a traditional peasant stew in the orchard. We then return to Sighisoara for our second night.

After breakfast we have a 30 minute transfer to the tranquil village of Biertan. Firstly we will have a guided tour of the fortified Black Church and a a chance to explore the village. There will then be an option to walk over the hillside and through extensive Beech woodland to the sleepy settlement of Copse Mare. (Otherwise a minibus transfer is available). We will meet in a village house for delicious homemade soup and bread. Following this there will be a felt-making demonstration and insight into village life Today we head to Sibiu for our final night’s stay and settle into our hotel for our final night of the tour.

After a delicious breakfast we will have a tour of the historic town of Sibiu. There will be a chance to see local crafts and buy some presents to take home. There is an early evening flight home from Sibiu. (There will be be the option of a free transfer to Brasov if requested).
