Itinerary

  • A pleasant “warm up“ day on field paths alongside the river Olt before heading onto quiet roads where you can enjoy views of rustic Romanian village life while being surrounded by the Carpathian mountains.

  • Our starting point is the stunning fortified church at Viscri in a quaint village known for its connection to king Charles. We cycle up the hill behind the village, whilst enjoying panoramic views. The cycle then enters a wonderful, mixed and truly magical woodland trail, which takes us to Mesandorf for a locally grown and cooked midday meal. Then onward through more interesting local villages and countryside before our final destination at Saschiz Saxon town.

  • We start by the impressive Fortified church at Biertan and then head into the county-side. A few hills involved together with some quiet road cycling but time to get lost in the pastoral beauty or unspoilt Romanian country side and picturesque villages.

  • A short drive to the hill top allows for a gentle cycle ride through quiet lanes via ancient pasture land, shepherds and small Transylvanian villages.

  • Walk up a fairly steep woodland path for an hour, then a gentle walk through pastures and woodland to Cabana Curmatura which is nestled below the Piatra Craiului mountain range. There we will stop for a simple lunch. Our return walk will bring us down to a stunning gorge where our transport will meet us.

  • A gentle ride without too many hills, surrounded by mountains and enjoying a long descent from Zarnesti.

  • Starting at our hotel we begin our final cycle down to Moeciu de Jos. A largely downhill ride amongst the many dramatic mountain and forest views. A great way to finish before heading off to the Historic Brasov Old Town for our final nights stay.
